7th H1N1 Case: Four-Year-Old Girl Infected

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei has received its seventh case of the Influenza A (H1N1) infection involving a four-year-old girl who returned from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 19.

According to a press release by the Ministry of Health yesterday, the four-year-old was on holiday with her family since June 15. She developed symptoms only on June 22, three days after returning to Brunei.

All of her contacts had been traced and are currently under quarantine by the ministry.

The patient, along with the other six confirmed cases, are all in good condition and still undergoing treatment at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital in Tutong.

Second case of Influenza A (H1N1)....

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Second case of Influenza A (H1N1) was confirmed by the Ministry of Health yesterday.

In a press statement, the Ministry revealed that the latest case is of a Bruneian girl aged 16 years who went to Singapore on June 12.The patient started to develop symptoms only on June 19, a day after arriving home from flight BI0422. She went to seek medical treatment at the Outpatient Services Bandar Seri Begawan Health Centre, Jalan Ong Sum Ping on June 20, 2009.
The patient is currently under treatment at the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Tutong and reported to be in a good condition.

First H1N1 Case in Brunei..

Quote "Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei confirmed its first case of A (H1N1) influenza when a student was found infected with the flu virus more than 12 hours after arriving home on flight BI098 from London Heathrow on June 16, 2009. The student was confirmed to have contracted the virus after Rapid Result and other tests were carefully executed.

Brunei will soon be seeing its student returning from United Kingdom, one of the countries with growing cases of H1N1 virus. But at a press conference early yesterday evening, the Minister of Health, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Suyoi, said there is no cause to panic now that Brunei has recorded its first H1N1 case in the country and asked the public to stay calm and take extra precaution."
